Against All Odds
For many women, finding the perfect hair stylist is often a difficult task. So, when you find one that properly cares for your hair, you’ll drive a great distance to visit their salon on a regular basis. Neither rain nor snow will cause you to miss an appointment. And for some, a stylist will become a friend and confidant.
Professional hair stylist and business owner, Starr Stroud takes pride in the relationships she has developed over the years with each of her clients; many of whom have been her clients for over five years. Starr is passionate about helping women nurture and maintain healthy hair.
Owning her own salon had not been one of Starr’s goals after graduating from high school. In fact, she pursued a business degree. Doing hair was only a hobby and a way to earn extra funds while she was in college. But, God has a different plan for her life.
Faced with many family issues and the numerous challenges of being a single mother, Starr had to drop out of college. Eventually, her hobby turned into her sole means of income. Starr received her cosmetology license and began working at a salon with several other beauticians. After studying the daily operations of the salon, Starr believed that she could run her own business.
Despite all of the challenges in her life, Starr opened X-quisite Hair Trenz in 2003. She is a true example of what God can do with your gift if you trust Him. Not only did God bless her with a business, but in 2007 she received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Benedict University.
The proud parent of two beautiful children, Starr continues to reach higher. She has plans of opening a salon and spa in Oak Park,
When Starr is not taking care of business or spending time with her children, she enjoys reading a good book. Her favorite authors are Kimberla Lawson Roby and Eric Jerome Dickey.
